Carlisle West Sure Start Children`s Centre offers access to a range of support for families with children age 8 & under. Offering accessible services for all parents, with more support targeted at those who need it. Services include, Play & Early Support, Childcare, Parenting Support, Individual Home Based Family Support, Health Services, Volunteering Opportunities and help for parents to find work or training.
The Centre covers Morton, Denton Holme, Belle Vue, Yewdale, Castle, Dalston and Burgh. We help parents, carers and families to promote healthy choices and lifestyles, provide safe homes and stability ,support learning, enjoyment and achievement, promote positive behaviour and participate in making their community a better place to live. We value and respect all children and their families and will work together to provide equality of opportunity in order to enable families to make their own choices.
Carlisle West Newtown used to share it`s base with Carlisle West - Morton, on Wigton Road, behind Morton Community Centre. It has now opened new premises on Shady Grove Road ans is open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. The majority of Children`s Centre services and activities happen in local Community Centres and halls. We work closely with First Steps Nursery, Newtown, an OFSTED registered nursery offering early education, full day care, wraparound childcare and holiday care for under 5`s. There is a Children`s Centre sensory room in Newtown School providing one to one sensory stimulation for children & their parents. Outreach home visits are available to share further information about Children`s Centre services or please contact 01228 223417 or call in at the Centre.

Regular Activities and Timetable
Busy Babies - A FREE play session for babies up to 1 year old; Come along to experience and explore messy activities, sensory play and singing with your little ones.
Lets Get Playing - Fun, free themed play sessions for you and your little ones, growing and learning through play. For children aged 0- 5 with older siblings welcome - different themes each week including `Fairies, Superheroes and Pirates`, `Holidays`, `Sports`, `Animal Antics` and `Big Cook Little Cook`!
5 - 13 Summer Activities - Fun, FREE summer outdoor sessions for children aged 5 - 13 years - including FOREST SCHOOLS and SPORTS AND GAMES
- 5 - 7 year olds MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Parents / Carers welcome to accompany over 8`s
- Unaccompanied 8 - 13 year olds MUST join our *CWCC Young Peoples Activity Scheme.

National Play Day - An afternoon filled with messy play madness, art and craft creations and forest school discovering!!!
Also, don`t forget that you can get active on Friday Nights with the Summer Splash! Have a go on the climbing wall, zorbing, drumming, mobile cave, forest schools, laser tag, mountain biking and more! 50p per entry and Children 10 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. Children 11+ can attend without an adult with a completed consent form (which you can get from your local Sure Start Children`s Centre, Inspira Advice Services and more)

Carlisle West Newtown Children`s Centre also has a variety of Story Sacks, Children`s books and parenting books that can be loaned through our Library system (don`t worry, if you don`t have a library card we can set you up with one here!)! We also have a computer Parents Information Point which provides internet access to websites such as job centre plus and many more. There is also a free telephone service that can contact these agencies! We also have displays on current activities as well as opportunities for you to tell us what you want to see! There is a play area with toys if you just fancy popping in and saying hi, staff are always willing to just sit and have a chat.
